Circus is for everyone!

Circus classes for kids aged 5+ to adults who can’t remember how old they are

The Circus Studio offers classes in circus arts including aerials, acrobatics, object manipulation and balance. We are a not-for profit organisation building a community of active and creative people.

Our Classes

Circus classes for children, youth and adults in a range of circus disciplines. Most classes are held in our Kingston Studio, but we also offer Circus Steps classes at a few other locations across greater Hobart.

Circus Steps

Ages 7-14

Circus Steps classes cover the basics in aerial, juggling, balance and acrobatics in a progressive and fun way. Each term, students perform a show of their skills for their peers, which builds team work and performance experience.

Youth Aerial

Ages 8-17

(prior experience required)

Youth Aerial classes focus on learning skills on silks and static trapeze, along with the development of strength and flexibility to support progression on these apparatus. This is a physically demanding class open to those who have a strong interest in aerial and previous experience in circus, dance or gymnastics. For new students, please contact us before enrolling.

Private Lessons

We offer individual or small group private lessons tailored to your needs. Whether you’re preparing for a performance or just wanting to try something new with a group of friends, our skilled trainers can tailor a class to your needs.

Circlets

Ages 5-7

Circlets classes follow roughly the same structure as Circus Steps, with more of a focus on games and student-led learning.

Youth Fundamendtals

Ages 12-17

Youth Fundamentals is an extension of Circus Steps for teenagers continuing on or for those new to circus. Students are encouraged to follow their strengths and are taught higher level skills in a wide range of circus disciplines. There is a strong physical training component to this class.

AdULT Aerial

Ages 18+

We offer adult aerial classes in silks and static trapeze. Our 8 week Intro to Aerial course is the starting point for all new adult aerial students and covers both apparatus. After completing the intro course, students can choose between silks or trapeze (or both!). Our adult aerial classes are grouped into levels to support the progression of students as they build strength and learn new skills.

The Circus Studio is a registered provider for the Ticket to Play program. Contact us to book using your voucher.

Workshops and Events

We offer a range of performance and teaching services to add a bit of circus fun to your next event, team day or birthday party. We also work with schools and child care centres. Event and workshop bookings are available in our Studio space in Kingston, or we can travel to you in greater Hobart and across Tasmania.
