Circus Steps is one of the world’s first circus skills curriculums for school age children. Developed in Europe, these classes cover the basics in aerial, juggling, balance and acrobatics in a progressive and fun way. Each term children perform a show of their skills for their peers, which encourages team work and achievement while gaining valuable experience in being part of a show situation. Each ‘step’ is marked by the attainment of a badge, all twelve badges together create a circus tent that can be ironed on to most items of clothing.
Classes are grouped by step level, 1-4, 5-8 and 9-12, and each class runs for 1.5hours on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday afternoons at either 3.30 or 5pm. We have a 1:8 instructor to student ratio to ensure your child gets the best possible guidance to learn new skills.
Youth Circus is a fantastic opportunity to join a worldwide community, perform shows, attend shows and be part of a fun supportive team. This class is aimed at young people from 12-25 years old and although previous experience is not necessary, it is a perfect addition or extension to Circus Steps classes. Classes cover basic acrobatics and handstands, then students are supported in following their strengths with the opportunity to specialise in aerials, acro-balance, hand balancing, juggling, manipulation and group acts such as skipping and mini-tramp. There are also guest trainers for master classes and try-out sessions of specialty skills throughout the year. Before booking this class please contact us through the form on this website for more information.
This class is an extension of Circus Steps, or for teenagers new to circus. Attendees are encouraged to follow their strengths and are taught higher level skills in a wide range of circus disciplines. There is a strong physical training component to this class and it is an excellent compliment to Youth Circus.
